Coolants

Coolants

Coolants are liquids or mixtures of liquids used to regulate temperature in internal combustion engines and other mechanical systems. They absorb heat from the engine and transfer it to other parts of the cooling system, such as the radiator, where it is dissipated into the air. Coolants also help to protect engines from corrosion, freeze damage, and overheating, and can contain various additives to enhance performance.
There are two main types of coolants: ethylene glycol-based and propylene glycol-based. Ethylene glycol-based coolants are typically used in automotive applications and are known for their high boiling point and low freezing point. Propylene glycol-based coolants are used in a variety of applications, including industrial and food processing, and are considered safer and more environmentally friendly than ethylene glycol-based coolants. The type of coolant used depends on the operating conditions, the type of engine, and the manufacturer's recommendations. Coolants should be checked regularly and replaced according to the manufacturer's recommended service intervals.
